Microsoft Band 2, smart menstrual cups, 2 kinds of pants: Quantified Self weekly links

Microsoft Band 2

MS Band 2

Microsoft's second activity tracker/smartwatch crossover has a two day battery life and an always-on watch mode. It handles the usual smart notifications from Windows Phone, Android, and iOS devices, and has eleven different sensors built-in, so as well as tracking movement it handles heart rate, location, skin temperature, atmospheric pressure, and VO2 Max (blood oxygen levels). It supports third-party apps too. You can (pre-)order one from the Microsoft Store.

  • LOONCUP: A smart menstrual cup tracking your frequency, fluid volume, and fluid colour. Kickstarter, funded
  • Lumo Run: Running pants that measure your posture and movement on top of the usual running stats.
  • LikeAGlove: Smart leggings that turn on when you press the big awkwardly-placed crotch-button and measure your figure, to help you find the perfect pair of pants.
